Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic was the most severe demand shock in the history of commercial aviation. This proposal sets out a research design to investigate how British Airways, the flagship airline of International Airlines Group (IAG), has reconfigured its competitive strategy across three linked areas between 2020 and 2030: operational and financial recovery, environmental sustainability and decarbonisation, and digital transformation. It addresses a gap in integrative research on how these three agendas interact and trade off against each other in a legacy carrier.
